Why Ancient Olympia matters
Olympia was a sacred site dedicated to Zeus, and the Games were held here every four years. You can walk along the stone starting line in the ancient stadium and see the ruins of the Temple of Zeus, once home to a giant statue. The modern Olympic flame is lit here before each Games. Visit the museum too.
