What this site keeps, where, why and for how long. We do not sell data and we do not take payments.

Last updated: 8 October 2026.

This page describes how Europe Trip Explorer (nexteurotrip.com) handles personal data. If anything is unclear, ask us through the contact page.

Kept on your device, not on our server

The trip planner stores your current plan, and the visited map stores the countries you tick, in your browser’s local storage. We never receive this data. Clearing your browser data for this site removes it.

If you create an account

We store your name, email address and a hashed password so you can sign in, plus any trips you choose to save. We send email only for things you ask for: confirming your address, resetting a password and sending you a plan. There is no newsletter and no marketing email. You can delete your account from your account page, which removes your saved trips.

Messages and advertising requests

If you use the contact or advertising forms we store what you send, your name and email, and when you sent it, so we can reply. We keep conversations for as long as they are useful and then delete them.

Place suggestions

When you suggest a place we store the place name, the Google Maps link you give, the type of place and your description, and your name and email only if you choose to add them. To limit spam we keep a one-way scrambled form of your IP address (it cannot be turned back into the address). That is cleared after 90 days, and personal details are removed once a suggestion has been decided. We never open or fetch the link you send.

Usage statistics and analytics

We count anonymous page views and searches to see which guides are useful. If Google Analytics is switched on for this site, it only loads after you accept it in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer. See the cookies page.

Advertising

Sponsored placements are always labelled. We count how often an ad is shown and clicked, and that count is not linked to you. If an advertising network is used, it is named here and loads only with your consent where the law requires it.

Who processes data for us

Our web host stores the site and its database, a content delivery and security provider may sit in front of the site, and an email service sends the messages above. They act on our instructions. Server logs (IP address, time, page) are kept by the host for a short time for security and fault-finding.

Why we are allowed to use your data

We use account and message data to provide the service you asked for or to answer you, and a small amount of technical data to keep the site secure and working. Analytics runs only with your consent.

Your rights

In the EU, UK and similar regions you can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, object to its use, and complain to your national data protection authority. Contact us and we will answer within a month.

Children

The site is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change how we handle data we will update this page and its date.
