Good to know
Is the trip expense calculator free?
Yes. There is nothing to pay, and you can use it without an account.
Where is my data stored?
If you are not signed in, only in your own browser on this device. We never receive it. If you sign in, your calculators are saved to your account so you can open them on any device.
How does the settle-up work?
We add up what each person paid and what each person owes, then match the people who owe the most with the people owed the most. That keeps it to a short list: never more payments than the number of people minus one.
Can we split an expense unevenly?
Yes. Split equally, by exact amounts, by percentage, or by shares (for example 2 shares for a couple and 1 for a single person).
How do my friends see the result?
Use the share link. It opens a read-only view of the expenses, totals and who pays whom. The link contains the trip itself, so anyone who has it can see it. Only send it to people you trust.
Can I record deposits or part-payments?
Yes. Add a deposit or payment to show that one person handed money to another, for example a deposit into a shared pot or part of what they owed. It counts toward who pays whom.
Can I use it on my own?
Yes. Add just yourself and every expense is tracked with a running total. With two or more people it also works out who owes whom.
Can I save the result as a picture?
Yes. Use Download picture to save the totals and who pays whom as an image you can post in the group chat.
Can I use more than one currency?
Each calculator uses a single currency. Convert any foreign expenses before you enter them.
