Briksdalsbreen
An arm of the Jostedalsbreen glacier, reached by a short walk through a valley with waterfalls.
For storytellers
Why Briksdalsbreen matters
Briksdalsbreen is a glacier tongue that comes down into a valley of waterfalls. A walking path leads from the car park to a lake in front of the ice, and electric carts or guided walks make the route easier. The glacier has been retreating for years, so the view changes. It's one of the easiest ways to see a glacier in Norway.
Talking points
- It's an arm of the large Jostedalsbreen glacier.
- The walk is a short climb past waterfalls.
- The glacier is shrinking, so views change.
