Why Cape Kolka matters
At the tip of the Kurzeme peninsula the land ends in a thin sandy point, and on windy days you can see waves from the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Riga collide. It is a wild, quiet place with forest behind and endless beach in front. It is far from the capital, but worth it for a sense of the open coast.
Talking points
- Two seas meet here, and the waves can clash visibly.
- The surrounding coast is wild and uncrowded.
