Why Chapel Bridge matters

The Kapellbrücke zigzags across the Reuss with a stone water tower beside it, and the roof beams are hung with painted panels showing scenes from local history. Parts of it burned in a fire in the 1990s and were rebuilt, so what you cross is a faithful restoration. Come at sunrise before the crowds.

Talking points

  • Painted panels hang under the roof.
  • The octagonal Water Tower beside it is also iconic.
  • A fire in the 1990s damaged it, and it was rebuilt.
