Why Dubrovnik City Walls matters

Walking the walls is the single best way to see Dubrovnik. You circle the whole old town on top of thick stone ramparts, looking down at orange roofs, tiny courtyards and the blue Adriatic. It takes a good hour or two with photo stops. Start as soon as it opens to beat the heat and the cruise crowds.

Talking points

  • The walls form an unbroken circuit around the old town.
  • You see roofs, courtyards and the sea from above.
  • Starting early is far more comfortable.
