Göta Canal Berg Locks
A flight of locks on the Göta Canal, a 19th-century waterway linking Sweden's east and west coasts.
For storytellers
Why Göta Canal Berg Locks matters
The Göta Canal is a slow adventure: a waterway built in the early 19th century to cross Sweden through lakes and locks. At Berg, a staircase of locks lifts boats high above the surrounding countryside. Cyclists ride along the towpath, and steamers glide by in summer. It is an old-fashioned, peaceful way to see inland Sweden.
