Why Toruń Old Town matters

Torun's old town escaped the wartime bombing, which is why its streets feel so authentic. You find a huge town hall in the market square, a leaning tower beside the river, the ruins of a castle of the Teutonic Order and church spires wherever you look. It is the birthplace of Copernicus, so look out for his statue and house. Do not leave without trying a piece of Toruń gingerbread.

Talking points

  • Toruń has a long gingerbread tradition.
