Why Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park matters
Ordesa is one of the most spectacular national parks of the Spanish Pyrenees. A deep glacial valley is edged by sheer cliffs, with waterfalls and beech forests, and trails lead up to high meadows and peaks. It's the best known hiking area of the Aragonese Pyrenees. Summer is crowded, so go in early autumn if you can.
Talking points
- The valley is bordered by tall limestone cliffs.
- Waterfalls and beech forests make it especially beautiful in autumn.
- It is part of a UNESCO site shared with France.
