Why Trulli District of Alberobello matters
Rione Monti is the larger of Alberobello's trulli districts, with over a thousand of these cone-roofed houses. Wander the lanes, peek into shops housed in trulli and climb to a viewpoint above the roofs. Go early in the morning, when light is soft and the lanes are almost empty, to feel the place at its best.
Talking points
- Conical stone roofs.
- Some trulli have painted symbols.
- UNESCO-listed.
- Evening is quieter.
