Why Fløibanen matters

Fløibanen climbs from the city centre up Mount Fløyen in about five minutes. At the top you get a panorama over the harbour, the islands and the colourful rooftops. Forest trails lead onwards, and there is a cafe and a playground. Go at dusk to see Bergen's lights come on. It's one of the easiest ways to feel the scale of the surrounding hills.

Talking points

  • The ride takes only a few minutes.
  • Trails run from the top through woodland.
  • Sunset views are the best.
