Why Geysir Geothermal Area matters

The Geysir area is a bubbling field of hot pools and vents. The original Geysir is mostly dormant, but its neighbour Strokkur erupts every few minutes, sending a jet of water high into the air. Stand safely on the upwind side and keep your camera ready. The name of this place gave us the word geyser. It's one of the three classic Golden Circle stops.
