Why Jungfraujoch matters

A long train journey, partly through a tunnel inside the Eiger and Mönch mountains, delivers you to the Jungfraujoch. From the observation deck you can see the Aletsch Glacier flowing away like a frozen river, and play in the snow all year round. It's a spectacular day trip, but expect cold and thin air.

Talking points

  • The railway runs partly through a tunnel inside the mountain.
  • The Aletsch Glacier is visible from the top.
  • The temperature stays cold even in summer.
