Why Łazienki Park matters

Łazienki is where Warsaw goes to breathe. The park holds an elegant neoclassical palace that seems to float on a lake, a sprinkle of smaller pavilions and an amphitheatre, and there are peacocks strolling around the lawns. In summer there are free piano concerts of Chopin's music by the monument to the composer on Sundays. It is large enough to get lost in, and a gentle contrast to the busy centre.

Talking points

  • The palace is built on an island in the park's lake.
  • There are free Chopin concerts by his monument on summer Sundays.
  • Peacocks wander freely through the grounds.
