Why Meteora Monasteries matters
Meteora is one of the strangest and most beautiful places in Greece. Monks built monasteries on tall rock pillars, partly for peace and safety. Several are still active, and you can visit some by climbing steps carved in the rock. The rocks themselves are the show, especially at sunrise and sunset.
