Why Poznań Old Market Square matters

Poznań's square is one of the loveliest in Poland. A Renaissance town hall with arcades stands in the middle, and every day at noon two little goats appear on the tower and bump their horns twelve times. The crowd gathers to watch, so arrive early. The arcaded houses around the square are full of restaurants and bars, and the surrounding lanes are a good place to try a local croissant.

Talking points

  • Two mechanical goats butt heads from the town hall tower at noon.
  • St Martin's croissants are a local speciality.
