Zamość Old Town
An ideal Renaissance town planned in the 16th century, with arcaded houses and a magnificent town hall.
For storytellers
Why Zamość Old Town matters
Zamość is rare because it was designed before it was built. A local nobleman commissioned an Italian architect to create a perfect town, and the result is a large square with a town hall and arcaded houses in warm colours. Its fortifications were built to match. It is so complete that it feels like walking into a painting.
