Why Turning Torso matters

The Turning Torso is a skyscraper that seems to be wringing itself out like a towel. Designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, it twists as it rises and has become the symbol of Malmö. The building is residential, so you generally can't go inside, but its sculptural shape is best admired from the waterfront. A walk along the seaside promenade gives great photos with the Öresund as backdrop.

Talking points

  • It was designed by Santiago Calatrava.
  • The twist is built into the structure.
  • The tower is residential, so enjoy it from outside.
