Why Upper Barrakka Gardens matters

The Upper Barrakka Gardens sit on the bastions with a sweeping view of the Grand Harbour. At noon and in the afternoon a cannon is fired from the saluting battery below. Take the lift down to the harbour level afterwards. It is one of the most photographed views in Malta.

Talking points

  • The harbour view is the main draw.
  • A saluting battery fires a cannon daily.
