Why Brijuni National Park matters

A short boat ride from Fazana takes you to a quiet archipelago of pine forests, meadows and old villas. You tour the main island by electric cart or bike, passing Roman remains, a small safari park and fossilised dinosaur footprints. It was a presidential retreat in the 20th century, and today it is a calm national park.

Talking points

  • Boats leave from the village of Fazana.
  • Fossil dinosaur footprints can be found on the islands.
  • Visits are by organised tour on the main island.
