Why Mosta Rotunda matters

The Rotunda of Mosta has an enormous dome, visible from far away. Inside, the space is bright and round, with a painted ceiling. During the Second World War a bomb fell through the dome and failed to explode, which locals remember as a miracle.

Talking points

  • The dome is among the largest of its kind.
  • A WWII bomb fell inside and did not explode.
  • The interior is bright and circular.
