Why Podil matters

Podil is the lower part of the city beside the Dnipro river, historically home to craftsmen, traders and the old academy. The streets are lower and quieter than the rest of the city, with 19th-century houses, small cafés and the site of the old Kyiv-Mohyla academy. It is a pleasant district to wander on foot.
