Why Trollstigen matters

Trollstigen, the Troll's Path, is a mountain road that climbs a steep hillside in eleven tight hairpin bends. A modern viewing platform at the top sticks out over the valley, giving an amazing view of the road and a waterfall. The road is open only in the summer season because of snow. Even if you don't drive it, the platform is worth a stop.

Talking points

  • The road has eleven hairpin bends.
  • A platform at the top overlooks the valley.
  • It is closed in winter because of snow.
