Why Caminito del Rey matters

The Caminito del Rey is a walkway bolted to the cliffs of the Gaitanes gorge. Once crumbling and notorious, it was restored and reopened as a safe route. You walk high above a turquoise river, with the canyon walls rising on both sides. It is thrilling but suitable for most people, and you must reserve ahead.

Talking points

  • The old path was infamous for its crumbling state before restoration.
  • The restored walkway is safe and has handrails.
  • Tickets are limited and must be booked in advance.

Free to read aloud or adapt in your video. Check facts that matter to you against an official source before you publish.

Good to know: Book in advance as tickets sell out; the walk is one way and takes a few hours.
