Why Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus matters

The theatre at Epidaurus is one of the best-preserved ancient theatres, with rows of stone seats in a perfect curve. The acoustics are remarkable: guides often show visitors how a whisper on stage can be heard high up in the rows. It is part of a larger healing sanctuary dedicated to Asclepius, and plays are still performed here in the summer festival.
