Why Wrocław Market Square matters

The Rynek, as Poles call such squares, is full of colour. Gabled houses in pink, yellow and blue wrap around an old town hall covered in Gothic detail, and cafés spill out onto the cobbles. Look closely at the corners and doorways for tiny bronze dwarfs. It is a good place to start a walking tour and to sit down with a coffee.

Talking points

  • The Gothic town hall is one of the finest in central Europe.
  • Look for small bronze dwarfs hidden around the square.
