Why Vigeland Sculpture Park matters

In Frogner Park, Gustav Vigeland spent decades making sculptures of people at every stage of life. Hundreds of nude figures gather around a fountain and along a bridge, ending at a tall granite monolith carved with intertwined bodies. It's free and open all hours, which makes it perfect for a walk at any season. Look out for the angry baby, a favourite photo stop.

Talking points

  • More than two hundred sculptures fill the park.
  • The central monolith is carved from a single granite block.
  • The park is free and open day and night.
