Why Visby Cathedral matters

While many of Visby's medieval churches lie in ruins, St Mary's Cathedral is still active. It was built for German merchants in the Middle Ages and has a distinctive stately silhouette, with a mix of Romanesque and Gothic features. Inside you find a fascinating mix of old and new decoration. It is just a short walk from the harbour, so combine it with a stroll through the old town.
