Why Cecilienhof Palace matters

Cecilienhof looks like an English Tudor manor that wandered into Brandenburg. It was the last palace built by the Hohenzollern family, and in the summer of 1945 the leaders of the victorious Allied powers met here to discuss postwar Europe. You can see the conference room as it was, then stroll along the lake in the New Garden.

Talking points

  • It was built in a manor-house style
  • The 1945 Potsdam Conference took place here
