Why Dancing House matters

Two towers lean into each other as though they are waltzing: one is glass and curvy, the other more rigid. The building looks wildly out of place among the neo-Gothic and baroque neighbours, and that is the point. It is free to admire from the street, and a rooftop terrace offers a drink with a view.

Talking points

  • The pair of towers evokes a dancing couple.
  • It was designed by Vlado Milunic and Frank Gehry.
  • It contrasts sharply with the historic buildings nearby.
