Why Tunnel of Hope Museum matters

During the siege of the 1990s, residents dug a narrow tunnel under the airport runway to bring in food, supplies and people. A short section is preserved in a family house, with photographs and a short film. It is a sober, important visit that explains daily survival during the siege. Many visitors go with a local guide.

Talking points

  • The tunnel ran beneath the airport runway.
  • A short section can be walked through.
  • A film and photos explain life during the siege.
