Why La Rambla matters

La Rambla is the boulevard everyone walks at least once. It runs down the middle of the old town from the Placa de Catalunya to the seafront, with plane trees, street performers, flower stalls and kiosks. It is busy and touristy, and pickpockets are active, but it is also a good way to see the buzz of Barcelona and to reach the Boqueria market.

Talking points

  • The street connects the central square to the old port.
  • The famous Boqueria market is on its side.
  • Watch your pockets in the crowds.
