Why Montjuic matters

Montjuic is Barcelona's green balcony. Take the cable car or a stroll to find gardens, art museums, Olympic buildings from 1992 and an old military castle with views over the port. The Magic Fountain below the hill lights up on evenings. It is a good place for a leisurely half-day.

Talking points

  • The hill hosted the 1992 Olympic Games.
  • A cable car links it with the waterfront.
  • The castle on top looks over the port and the city.
