Why Potsdamer Platz matters

Potsdamer Platz was one of the busiest junctions in Europe before the war, then an empty strip beside the Wall. After 1989 it became one of Europe's largest construction sites, and today it is a district of cinemas, glass towers and a film museum. It is a symbol of reinvention, though not the cosiest part of town.
