Why Acropolis Museum matters

The Acropolis Museum sits just below the hill and was designed to look back at it. Glass floors show the ancient neighbourhood being excavated under your feet, and the top floor is arranged to match the Parthenon so the frieze can be read in order. Statues, reliefs and the famous maidens are all here. It is air-conditioned and calm, so it works well as a pair with the climb.

Talking points

  • The top floor mirrors the layout of the Parthenon, with the view of the real thing through the glass.
  • Glass floors let you look down on excavated houses.
  • The caryatids, the stone maidens, are a highlight.

Free to read aloud or adapt in your video. Check facts that matter to you against an official source before you publish.

Good to know: Pair it with the Acropolis on the same day; the museum is a good cool break in the afternoon.
